    Time to storm the Castle!

    May 23, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

So, once we walked up the hill to the castle, it just became more impressive. Part of the castle dates from shortly after the Norman conquest and dates to the 1100’s. That includes the keep and parts of the wall and the old main gate. The remainder were rebuilt and are more from the Georgian age, the 1700’s and 1800’s. I will say, it’s a visit I’m glad we decided to make, and would definitely recommend for others.

We walked to the top of the keep where we had spectacular views, but it was the apartments that stole the show, especially for Denise. The crazy thing is that since the family still lives here, they sometimes have their friends stay in some of the rooms we saw! How cool would that be, to stay in a room that Queen Victoria may have graced?!

If you have the time, the car, and the will power to drive on the wrong side of the road, I say go for it!
