Tsukiji Fish Market

So, getting up Sunday morning, the question was what to do. One of the things I wanted to see while in Tokyo was the fish market, Tsukiji. While the main market where the restaurants buy their fish has moved to a more commercial based location, the original market is still there due to the tourists and the old stalls. I was a bit surprised to see it wasn’t on the water, but it was definitely similar vibes to the one we’ve been to in Seattle, just much bigger and a lot more stalls to choose from.

We walked up and down the alley’s, but only about half the stalls were even open. That being said, there were enough open to get a good feel for what it’s like. The amount of people just visiting and stopping in each stall/restaurant still made it hard to get through the area. We went back towards the first alley to grab some sushi. I think it was about $5 bucks for that plate, but boy was it solid. I would have loved to try one of those oysters, but wasn’t quite brave enough to challenge the lines!
