    Towards the end of the day, we stopped at Washita Battlefield National Monument. On November 27, 1868, Custer's 7th Cavalry attacked the village of Peace Chief Black Kettle. The majority of inhabitants were innocent women, children and elders. Many escaped to the Washita River, but were eventually captured and imprisoned at Fort Hayes, Kansas.Read more
