    As we neared the north end of the park it was still daylight, allowing us to stop at the Midway Geyser Basin. Within the basin is the Excelsior Geyser Crater, Grand Prismatic Spring, Turquoise Pool, and Opal Pool. During the late 19th Century, the Excelsior Geyser had regular eruptions reaching as high as 300 feet. The force of these eruptions formed a large crater around the Geyser. Except for a 47-hour period of major eruptions in 1985, the Geyser has been mostly dormant since 1890.Leer más
