Jackson Glacier Overlook

Entering through St. Mary, we traveled on the east side of Going-to-the-Sun Road as far as the Jackson Glacier Overlook. Since 1966, the Glacier has experienced a significant decrease in size. In fact, since its founding in 1910, Glacier National Park has lost more than 70 glaciers. Current predictions estimate that the Park's remaining 25 glaciers will be gone by 2030.

Under the Overlook is a horse tunnel. When the Road was completed in 1932, many visitors opted to traverse the Park on horseback. This tunnel provided a safe route for pack horses to travel, free from vehicular traffic.もっと詳しく
