  • Free at last

    July 2, 2022 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

Well after a few days of isolation, I finally tested negative and Abby and I got to go have fun together. Our jetski island tour was a blast although my daughter had serious hoon tendency clocking 87 knots on the last stretch coming back in and weird maniacal laughter - wonder where she got that from.

Anyway feeling better, Covid was more boring and badly timed than stressful.

  • Fun on the water

    July 9, 2022 in India ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Had an interesting last day in Thailand. I did a tour that was basically half price because they dropped me at the airport on the way home. We basically got taken around a bunch of options with a hero of people who were all doing a variety of things on the menu.

The highlight for me was the tasting which was the main thing I signed up for. Since I was the only one who signed up for the 9 km I got 2 guides to myself and I got to paddle and steer unlike the others who got chauffeured.

It got more ingesting when I asked if they had Crocs or alligators and he goes, 'No, just anaconda!'

Just in transit here for a few hours but I have no idea where or what country it is. But it's nice to see something a little local in the airport.

  • It's hot out here

    July 11, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates ⋅ ☁️ 34 °C

Well everyone tells me it's quite cool today only 39 degrees - and it's a dry heat. All I can say is that hell is unlikely to be a plausible fear for the Arabs, oh you mean like summer right?

  • Super expensive Dubai

    July 13, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates ⋅ ⛅ 37 °C

Well 4 days here feels like more than enough. I forgot that I arrived in the hottest month of the year when the locals tend to leave and although the buildings and the malls and the shopping are all spectacular are also eye-wateringly expensive.

I tried a couple of times walking down to the malls but arrived dripping with sweat and was unable to stomach a base taxi fee of about 20 bucks to go 3 km.

Also living in aircon gets a bit old.

I did have one interesting story I went out for dinner and as was giving directions to the taxi driver on the way home when a couple of young African women all dressed up to party jumped in the back seat (I was in the front passenger seat) and they were asking to go to the area near where I was. The driver asked them to hop out but I said it's fine, they can stay and take the taxi from my hotel as it would save them about 3/4 of the fare

So we were chatting on the way back on the way and I noticed the taxi driver looking super uncomfortable and then the chattier one started stroking my shoulder. Now as good as my self esteem is it occurred to me that it wasn't solely my devastating good looks that were prompting the interest. Anyway I enjoyed the chat and declined the offer to party which was graciously received and I decided I should refrain from inviting attractive young women to share taxis with me in Dubai 😀

    July 16, 2022 in Poland ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Well last night in Poland and I have way too much Polish cash on me so a pretty fancy dinner coming up.

The dessert was an interesting combination and some kind of fruit fettuccine which was tasty and delicious.

Although tbh the food with Luke and Manu was better.
