Roadtrip Day 1: Lamezia Terme > Paola

Nach der anstrengenden Zeit mit den MaturantInnen haben wir uns einen Fiat Panda ausgeborgt und haben uns nach Norden aufgemacht.

Ohne echtes Ziel (den Wagen hatten wir bis Samstag Vormittag gemietet), ging es zuerst mal auf einen Kaffee nach Lamezia Terme, um in Ruhe eine schöne erste Teil-Route rauszusuchen.

Und dann ging es los.

Herrliche einsame Straßen führten uns zuerst durch die kalabrische Hügellandschaft, bis wir uns schließlich wieder Richtung Meer begaben um in Paola zu übernachten. Am Weg kamen wir an der Ruine eines Klosters vorbei und machten eine Pause in Cosenza, in deren Fußgängerzone viel Kunst herumsteht.

After the exhausting time with the high school graduates, we borrowed a Fiat Panda and headed north. Without a real destination (we had rented the car until Saturday morning), we first went to Lamezia Terme for a coffee to find a nice first part of the route in peace.
And then it started.

Wonderful lonely roads led us through the Calabrian hilly landscape, until we finally went back towards the sea to spend the night in Paola. On the way we passed the ruins of a monastery and took a break in Cosenza, where there is a lot of art in the pedestrian zone.
