Coffee stop

The bike shop mentioned that they only had rentals available for one day, meaning we would have to return the bike by 9 AM the next morning. However, we needed it for longer since our flight was in the evening and we didn’t want to be without a vehicle for the entire afternoon. So, we decided to skip this shop.

Wrong turn & lucky escape

On our way to Park Sathorn Restaurant, I mistakenly followed Google Maps into a restricted road where two-wheelers weren’t allowed. The traffic police immediately called us back. The first thing they asked for was our license—specifically an international driving permit for tourists. We showed them the FIR from Phi Phi, explaining that our license and IDP were stolen (even though I never actually had an IDP). Luckily, they let us go without any trouble.Baca lagi

An unexpected connection

We headed to Pratunam Market again, navigating its narrow roads on our bike. A young kid approached us, promoting an Indian restaurant. Since I was really craving Indian food, I asked if they accepted UPI, and he confirmed they did, so we followed him in for lunch.

Indian-owned restaurants in Thailand often accept UPI, making it easy for Indian travelers. Inside, the place was filled with Indian customers, all speaking Hindi. While eating, I inquired if they could exchange Baht for UPI transfers. Many did, but their exchange rates were quite high.

While searching for a better deal, we met two Indian guys, Dev and Vinay, who work in Bangkok and vlog on weekends (@DevBhumitoSuvarnaBhumi on YouTube). We instantly connected, and they generously withdrew ฿10,000 from an ATM for us at the normal exchange rate. We transferred the equivalent amount via UPI, chatted for a while, and then parted ways—us heading for shopping, and them off to film their vlog.Baca lagi

Shopping Spree

Now that we had enough cash, we headed to The Platinum Fashion Mall, a well-known shopping hub for clothes. While I mostly shop online, Sam prefers offline shopping, so this was more her scene.

The mall had separate sections for men, women, and kids spread across different floors. We split up to explore on our own. I quickly realized that the prices weren’t much different from what I could get in India, so I wrapped up fast. But for Sam, shopping was an event—she needed hours!

Since I didn’t want to wait around, we decided I’d head back to the hotel while she continued shopping. I installed the Bolt app on her phone, showed her how to use it, and left, knowing she’d make her way back later.Baca lagi

Known as the backpacker hub, Khao San Road is a vibrant spot that truly comes alive at night, offering a mix of street food, bars, music, and an electrifying atmosphere.
