The Shri Idagunji Maha Ganapati Temple (ಇಡಗುಂಜಿ ಗಣಪತಿ) is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Ganesha, It is one of the religious destinations near Murudeshwara, it is located on the West Coast of India in the Idagunji town in Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka. The temple's popularity as a religious place is recorded by about 1 million devotees visiting it annually.

The Shirali Maha Ganapathi Mahammaya Temple is the Kuladevata Temple (family temple) of the Goud Saraswat Brahmin community. The temple deity is a Kuladev of the Kamaths, Bhats, Puraniks, Prabhus, Joishys, Mallyas, Kudvas and Nayak families from the Goud Saraswat Brahmin community. The temple is located at Shirali in the Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka state. It is a five-minute drive from either Bhatkal or Murdeshwar. The Temple was built about 400 years ago. It was renovated in 1904.

These families are referred to as the Kulavis of the temple. The temple was established by devotees who migrated from Goa about 400–500 years ago. The presiding deities are Shri Mahaganapati (Vinayaka) and Shri Mahamaya (Shantadurga).

3# Shri Mookambika Temple, Kollur

Kollur Mookambika Temple is located at Kollur in Byndoor Taluk of Udupi District in the region of Tulunadu and in the state of Karnataka, India. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Mother Goddess known as Mookambika Devi. Mookambika is the union of Adipara Shakthi and Parabramha as the Linga has integrated on its left side "Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswathi". It is situated in the foothills of Kodachadri hills, on the southern bank of Souparnika River. Being situated in the land between Gokarna and Kanyakumari, believed to be created by sage Parashurama. The main deity of the temple is a swayambhu (self-born) jyotirlinga with a golden line cutting it into half, in which the left half represents Tridevis, and the right half represents Trimurtis. Along with this, a four-handed panchaloha idol of Goddess Mookambika is also installed.

Shri Brahmi Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kamalashe is located at a distance of 35 km from Kundapura in Udupi district. Kamalashile is surrounded by beautiful mountains and evergreen forests with the river Kubja flowing by the side of it.

Kamalashile is famous for its ancient Brahmi Durgaparameshwari temple located in heart of the village. The name Kamalashile takes after the stone Linga. Goddess Brahmi Durgaparameshwari is worshiped in the form of a Linga, which is said to be convergence of Goddesses Mahakali, Maha Saraswathi and Maha Lakshmi.

A special pooja is performed every evening called as “Salaam Pooja” as a tribute to the Muslim rulers Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan and the practice has been there for a long time.

Anegudde village is located at a distance of 9 km south of Kundapura, in Udupi District. Anegudde is also popularly called as Kumbashi. The name Kumbhashi is said to be derived from demon Kumbhasura. According to the history, when drought hit this area, Sage Agasthya performed penance to appease the Varuna, the Rain God. During the penance, demon Kumbhasura started troubling the sages. Bheemasena gets weapon from Lord Ganesha to kill Kumbahasura and assassinate him at this place. Anegudde is rewarded one of the seven 'Mukti Sthalas' of Karnataka (Parashurama kshetra). The temple at Anegudde is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha). Anegudde is the combination of two words - 'Aane' meaning 'Elephant' and 'Gudde', which stands for 'hillock' as it is the abode of the elephant-headed god, Lord Vinayaka.

Udupi Shri Krishna Temple is a well-known historic Hindu temple dedicated to Krishna and Dvaita Matha located in the city of Udupi in Karnataka, India. The Matha area resembles a living Aashram, a holy place for daily devotion and living. Surrounding the Shri Krishna Temple are several temples namely the Udupi Anantheshwara Temple which is over a thousand years old.

The Krishna Matha was founded by the Vaishnavite saint Jagadguru Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. He was the founder of the Dwaita school of Vedanta. It is believed that Madhwacharya found the vigraha of Shri Krishna in a large ball of gopichandana. As told by Sri Madhvacharya, in his Tantrasara Sangraha, the Vigraha is placed Pashchimabhimukha (facing west). All the other Vigrahas in other Ashta Muthas face west as well. Devotees always have darshan of Krishna through the inner window, known as the Navagraha Kindi & the outer window known as the Kanakana Kindi, which is decorated by an arch named after the great saint Kanakadasa. A statue has also been erected. A similar window covers the immediate front of the Vigraha and is called Navagraha Kindi. It is often mistaken to be the Kanakana Kindi.

Udupi Anantheshwara Temple is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ananteshwara Parashurama (an avatar of Vishnu). The Anantheshwara temple is located in Udupi, India. The temple is a unique temple where Parashurama is worshipped in the form of Linga.[1][2] Writer Roshen Dalal says, "According to texts, the city formed part of Parashurama Kshetra, the area is said to be claimed by Parashurama from the sea. Legends state that a king name Ramabhoja worshipped Parashurama here in the form of Linga, which then manifests itself on a silver seat (rajata pitha). Thus in Sanskrit texts, the city is known as Rajata Pitha".

Sri Sharadamba Temple, Sringeri

One of the holiest and most important Hindu pilgrim centres, Sringeri was the site of the first of the four Peethas (centres) established by the great sage Adi Shankaracharya, the founder of the Advaita philosophy. Sringeri has the Sharadamba Temple dedicated to Sharadamba, Goddess of Learning and Wisdom. The temple is famed for the matchless beauty of the idol. Nearby is the Vidyashankara Temple which is an architectural marvel – its 12 sculpted pillars, each representing a sign of the zodiac, are placed so that the sun’s rays fall on each successively, in the order of the solar months

Sri Sharadamba Temple: Goddess Sharade is associated with knowledge, music, art and wisdom. Sri Sharadamba temple in Sringeri has a golden idol of Goddess Sharade and other temples dedicated to Torana Ganapathy, Adi Shankaracharya, Mahalaya Brahma, KodandaramaSwamy, Hanuman (Anjaneya), Garuda etc

Sri Vidyashankara Temple: Built entirely from stone in the 14th century, Sri Vidyashankara temple features Hoysala+Dravidian style architecture. The inner sanctum (Garbha Griha) of Sri Vidyashankara temple has Vidya Ganapathi, Goddess Durga, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara.Читать далее

Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple

An epitome of spirituality and religious significance, Sri Manjunatha Temple is one of the renowned holy sites in South India. This Shiva temple is located in the sacred town of Dharmasthala in the state of Karnataka. The primary deity of the temple, Majunatheshwara, has taken the shivalinga form. Besides the chief deity, other idols like Dharma Daevas and Shakti are also worshipped in the temple. It is also the abode of Lord Dharma’s four Guardian Spirits, Kanyakumari, Kalarkayi, Kalarahu, and Kumaraswamy.

While the temple is implored by Madhwa Brahmins or Vaishnava priests, the administration is run by Jain descendants. This 800-year old institution reflects the true essence of spirituality despite the cast and religious differences. Tiruvannamalai is an ancient temple town in Tamil Nadu situated at the foot of Arunachala Hill, a low rocky hill rising to a height of about 3000 feet. Believed to be the living manifestation of Lord Shiva, Arunachala has been mentioned in several ancient texts including the Puranas. Besides Arunachala, the temple town is famous for Annamalaiyar Temple and Ramanashram. There are several other ashrams and temples as well.

Girivalam (for the uninitiated) is the age-old practice of circumambulation around the sacred Arunachala. In Tamil, ‘giri’ means mountain and ‘valam’ means to circle. It involves a walk of about 14 Km. around the sacred hill. A visit to Tiruvannamalai is considered incomplete without Girivalam. My sister and I decided to go for it. I enjoy walking anyway. The usual practice is to perform Girivalam on full moon nights, but it can be done anytime. Practically, the hot weather conditions of Tamil Nadu would make it quite difficult to perform Girivalam during the day. Ideally the walk is done barefoot.

Once Every Year few people are allowed to climb the Sacred Arunachala Mountain for the Karthik Deepam Festival a Huge lamp is Lite on the mountain. That's the reason the crowds have trippled
