    Museo del Retablo

    We stopped at this Museum, which has been preserving Retablos ( Altarpieces ) and other pieces of art, from closed and abandoned churches in the Burgos. Small villages have been de-populated as young people leave the agricultural regions around here. As a result churches closed and are shuttered. This Museum started collecting art from closed churches.

    The museum is housed in the closed church is San Esteban (Saint Étienne, Saint Stephen). The collection is amazing. Too many photos to post!    Les mer
