Block Island Mother's Day

Frank and Ellie took the Ferry to the island for a day trip today, to celebrate Mother's Day.

A driving tour of the island, a stop at the Southeast Lighthouse on top of Mohegan Bluff.

Enjoyed the warm sunshine, followed by a seafood dinner.

After Ellie and Frank left on the boat, Sue and I did a short walk on the Meadow Hill Trail, part of Block Island's extensive Greenway trail network.Read more

Bike ride on the Block Island south loop

Nice easy bike ride this morning, only about 10 miles. Several stops for sight seeing.

Mohegan Bluffs is awesome, but walking back up the stairs is a workout.

Stopped at 1661 Farm to visit their animals. Sue tried to recreate Worcester's Turtle Boy statue!Read more

A little more than 9 kilometer walk to Rodman Hollow headlands, more stunning cliffs. Walked just a fraction of the Island's extensive Greenway Trail network.

Bike & Hike to North Lighthouse.

Bike ride to the north end of the island road, the about 1.5 km walk to the North Lighthouse and the northern point of the island.

Our bike ride was interrupted by a Canada Goose family crossing the road.

Highlight of the beach walk was a seal colony on the beach and in the water!Read more

Island Cemetery walk

Went a walk near our lodgings for the week, wound up at the Island Cemetery, then another short segment of the Greenway trails.

Found a lot of Celtic Crosses today!

Beach Walk and more Clay Head Cliffs

Today was a morning beach walk on the west side of the island starting at Dories Cove, then a visit to the Coast Guard station next to the cut from the Great Salt Pond out to Block Island Sound. Then we hiked the north end of the Clay Head Bluffs trail, that we missed earlier this week.Read more
