Brazil, Summary

Brasilien war nie wirklich auf meiner Liste an Ländern, die ich mal besuchen wollte. Ist aber durch enthusiastische Empfehlungen raufgerutscht. Zum Glück, kann ich nur sagen. Ein naturmässig wunderschönes Land mit auch extrem netten Leuten. Natürlich habe ich mich nur in sicheren Gegenden aufgehalten, nachdem auch einige Brasilianer meinten, besser da nicht hin und besser hier alle Sachen wegstecken. Aber das wäre dasselbe in bspw. Barcelona. Kreditkartenzahlungen sind extrem einfach und überall akzeptiert (im Gegensatz zu Argentinien) 🙄… Die öffentlichen Busse sind ein Hit. Gleich hinter dem Fahrer ist ein Drehkreuz, durch das alle Fahrgäste durch müssen. Das zählt offensichtlich mit. Aber es ist so eng, dass der Bauch eingezogen werden muss und auch kleine Rucksäcke hochgehoben werden müssen, sonst bleibt man stecken. Besonders lustig ist, dass so ein Bus bspw. auch den Flughafen anfährt. Ihr könnt euch die Gesichter der Fahrgäste mit grossem Koffer bei dieser Herausforderung vorstellen. Eine extrem dicke Familie, bei der die Frau gleich mal stecken blieb, der wurde ausnahmsweise eine der hinteren Türen geöffnet. Da hat einer echt mitgedacht. In Rio sah ich, wie sich ein Teenager durch eine geschlossene (!) hintere Bustür gequetscht hat. Alter Bus, ausgeleierte Tür, schlanker Junge… Er hat’s jedenfalls geschafft. no risk, no schwarzfahren. 🫣
Was auch beeindruckend war, obwohl deswegen im Stau gestanden, war die Tatsache, dass in den grossen brasilianischen Städten die Hauptverkehrsstrassen an jedem (!) Sonntag für Autos gesperrt werden. Da wird dann geradelt, gejoggt, Party gemacht. Mal sehen, wann das in DE oder AT umgesetzt wird.
Müll wird wegen der Tiere in Plastiktüten draussen auf einem Gestell gesammelt und dann von dort abgeholt.
Azul ist meine Lieblingsfluglinie in BRA. Sie hat mir einen perfekten Flug geboten: pünktlicher Abflug. bei 2 Std Flugzeit 25 min zu früh gelandet, Essen und Getränke gratis sowie das on-board entertainment programme - das alles bei einem Inlandsflug. Mhmm, nice.
Not so nice - der Besuch in einer Post. Da hieß es erst mal Numner ziehen und warten. Und warten. Nach 45 min war ich dran - für zwei Briefmarken und einen Umschlag. Das liegt daran, dass man sich die Sachen nicht wie in Wien mal so nehmen kann, dann verpacken und sich dann anstellt und bezahlt. So viel vertrauen herrscht hier nicht. Somit fangen alle erst mit Verpacken und Klebeband an, wenn sie am Schalter stehen. Naja…. ist halt so und alle warten geduldig, dass ihre Nummer dran kommt.
Also, Brasilien ist ein schönes Reiseland, aber auch nicht in allen Belangen billig. Man muss die Temperaturen und die Luftfeuchtigkeit aushalten. Das Gefühl, ständig duschen zu wollen und das es nie richtig trocken ist. Aber dafür hat man halt auch überall tolle Pflanzen und Tiere, die bei uns teils nur im Tropenhaus rumwuseln. Und es gibt nix besseres, als bei diesem Wetter mit dem Strohhalm ‘ne gekühlte Kokosnuss auszuschlürfen oder den Tag am Strand mit einem Caipi zu beenden.

Brazil was never really on my list of countries to visit. But slid up through enthusiastic recommendations. Luckily, that's all I can say. A naturally beautiful country with extremely nice people. Of course, I only stayed in safe areas, after some Brazilians said it's better not to go there and better put everything away here. But that would be the same in Barcelona, for example. Credit card payments are extremely easy and accepted everywhere (unlike Argentina) 🙄… The public buses are a hit. Just behind the driver is a turnstile that all passengers must go through. It obviously counts the passengers as well. But it's so narrow that you have to pull in your stomach and also have to lift small backpacks, otherwise you get stuck. It is particularly funny that such a bus also serves the airport, for example. You can imagine the faces of the arrival passengers with large suitcases in this challenge. An extremely fat family, where the woman got stuck right away, one of the back doors was opened for once. So they finally could get in. Somebody really thought about it. In Rio, I saw a teenager squeezing through a closed (!) back bus door. Old bus, worn-out door, slim boy... At least he made it. no risk 🫣
What was also impressive, despite being stuck in traffic, was the fact that in the big Brazilian cities the main roads are closed to cars every (!) Sunday. Then there is cycling, jogging, partying. Let's see when that will be implemented in DE or AT.
Because of the animals, rubbish is collected in plastic bags outside on a rack and then picked up from there.
Azul is my favorite airline in BRA. It offered me a perfect flight: departure on time, landed 25 minutes too early on a 2-hour flight, free food and drinks and the on-board entertainment programme - all of this on a domestic flight. Mmmm, nice.
Not so nice - a visit to a post office. So it was time to pull the number and wait. And wait. After 45 minutes it was my turn - for two stamps and an envelope. That's because you can't just take things like you can do in Vienna, pack them up and then get in line and pay. There isn't that much trust here. So everyone only starts with packing and tape when they are at the counter. Oh well…. that's the way it is and everyone waits patiently for their number to get called.
Well, Brazil is a beautiful travel destination, but not cheap in all respects. You have to endure the temperatures and the humidity. The feeling of wanting to shower all the time and that it's never really dry. But you also have great plants and animals everywhere, which you can see kn Europe only in tropical houses. And there's nothing better than slurping up a chilled coconut with a straw in this weather or ending the day on the beach with a caipi.Read more
