Arrive in Funchal

All the travel worked really well so we arrived in time to check in to the hotel and walk just down the hill to a cafe looking out over the bay. The food was excellent and we got our first glasses of Madiera. I'm sure there will lots more! The weather has been very warm today, but mostly cloudy with short spells of sunshine.

Funchal was clearly well off in the past, but is now quite run down. Rather like Jerez - very elegant buildings but which are now decaying, or in ruins.Read more
