Up (and down) the mountain

We had planned to visit the botanic gardens at the top of the mountain, but the entry price was huge so we didn't bother, and went on the church that was founded by the the last emperor of the Austrian empire after the first World war, and who ended up in madiera and whose tomb is still there.

To get back down the mountain, they have wicker carts so they toboggan you down ! It's fun, although the queues were an hour long (there was a cruise ship in), and it started to rain. Afternoon in the sun by the pool.Read more
