Met Natalie, Andy, Finlay and Emily at Birmingham at about 4.30 a.m. The flight was 4 hours both kids were absolutely perfect, even Finlay was as good as gold. Arrived at the hotel in time to wander round, go in the pool and get settled. Finlay is in our room and was so tired he went straight to sleep with no problems. Emily is in with Natalie and Andy. Wonderful dinner for us all, the food is as good as it always was. Tomorrow we plan go go on a shopping trip into to town - which will be by boat!

Problem with the blog - it doesn't seem know where we are. Might be an annoyance!Read more

First day in Dalyan

We got up late, including Finlay, and had a good breakfast and went on the boat in to town. Bought a few things, had a look around , and an early lunch. It was supposed to be a light lunch but we love the food here so much that we just pigged out! Back on the boat, and an afternoon with Finlay in and around the pool.Read more

Gentle day round the pool

And the boat is being fixed tomorrow so it'll be another hard day doing nothing tomorrow!

The geckos like sitting in the sun during the day, And in the evening the frogs like to come to the pool.

A day at the beach

One boat trip into Dalyan, then another to the beach. Altogether maybe an hour and a quarter, so a nice ride but not very convenient. By the time we got to the beach it was SO hot that we only spent an hour there before coming back again. Still, nice to get your toes into the sand, and a bit of wave jumping. Yesterday afternoon it was 34 degrees, today a little less but without much wind. In the cliffs above the river are Lycian tombs dating to the 4th century BC.Read more

A day by the pool

One of the great things this week has been that since Monday we have been the only people here. When we arrived there was a party of 16 women, and one man, from Brighton who come every year for a week of yoga. Since then we've had it all to ourselves which has been wonderful for Finlay to wander round and go in the pool.

Pics today are a selection of the fruit trees, and a cricket we found. We also saw what we thought was an eagle soaring overhead, but by the time I'd got my camera it had soared off! Fruits in the pics are plums, oranges, lemons, apricots, and pomegranates. See if you work out which are which!Read more

This week has gone so fast, can't believe we are going home tomorrow! It was really hot today, 34 degrees and not much wind. We went on the boat into dalyan and had a play in a playground, then sat and had lunch beside the river. Before having an afternoon by the pool.Read more
