We stopped at the end of the road and checked in with the rangers. They advised us to take the river loop as the hike up to the misty falls was muddy. Then, as we were getting our packs ready, a group of rangers came by, one with a shotgun. They said a bear was near by. A few minutes later we heard two booms. We spoke to the ranger with the gun. He said he fires rubber bullets - and this bear was small enough that he only shot near him. We then went for a nice walk along the river.
