    Driving around the Sierras

    July 12, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

First off - thank goodness for the wonderful ranger we met in the foothills visitor center as we descended out of Sequoia. I wanted to ask for advice about taking the Sherman Pass road over the southern end of the range. The first two rangers I asked at the desk said they weren't sure - but why not try. Not really satisfied I noticed there was an old guy with a white beard. He had been over the road and said it must' much fun and wasn't very scenic. Over the next few days others confirmed this would have not been fun.

The kids and I were chatting after about the importance of asking older folks who know, when Samantha said (direct quote) "Never trust anyone under 30". Take that baby-boomers! I told her about the 60's inverse of that and she said "why would anyone say that?!?"

He said we should check out Mt. Whitney - another huge favor he did us as it turns out. The pics here are just what the kids slept through or watched as we listened to The Sword of Shanara on the stereo.
