  • Katie's Wedding -Bowen

    May 1, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Had a great time at Rob & Katie's wedding. Lovely to catch up with all the family who flew and drove in from all over the place.
They organized the school bus to pick everyone up and drop us to the church, then again to the reception. The return trip had us back at the caravan about 1 am.Read more

Arrived in Airlie Beach and met up with everyone at Club Crocodile resort where we left the cars and caravans for the week.

  • Stonehaven Bay

    May 4, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

After a 3 hour brief on operation of our yacht, we set sail and settled for the night at Stonehaven Bay. Great spot for sundowners.

Robert caught our first fish for the trip.

Took the dinghy in to the beach next morning and negotiated a small hike to a great little waterfall.Read more

  • Butterfly Bay

    May 5, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Stopped in at Langford Island and snorkled on the reef. Apparently the reef has rejuvenated in recent years and looked pretty good.

Next stop was Maureens cove on Hook Island for lunch, then arrived at Butterfly Bay for the night. It was absolutely beautiful in the bay, but blew up overnight and next morning, which delayed our departure till late morning.Read more

  • Nara Inlet

    May 6, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

I had the helm for most of the day, where Darren taught me how to sail. It was blowing 15-20 knots for most of the day which was perfect for sailing. Did a few "tacks" back and forth on the way south towards our destination of Nara Inlet.

Stopped a couple of times for a fish, where Mick caught a Mackeral, and a small Hammerhead shark later that night.

Once anchored at Nara Inlet, we boarded the dinghy and went ashore to check out some indigenous paintings in a cave.

    Another great overnight stop.

  • Whitehaven Beach

    May 7, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

As the winds were only 6 knots, we motored around to Tongue Point where we climbed the hill to the lookouts. Fantastic views across to Whitehaven Beach from here.

Arrived at Whitehaven Beach and were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overcrowded. Absolutely beautiful day swimming, kayaking and walking on the beach.

By 5pm most boats were gone and only about 8 boats stayed for the night.

    May 8, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Arrived at Hammo around lunchtime, where the concierge led us in to the marina. Darren did a great job "parking" our yacht between 2 others.

Marg and I have been here before, so after a quick pie at the bakery, we caught the bus to the resort where we had a couple cocktails, then another bus up to One Tree Hill for a couple more.Read more

  • Cid Harbour

    May 9, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Had a sail from Hammo to Cid Harbour and
anchored for the night close to shore for wind protection.

Robert caught a huge Golden Trevally which managed to wrap itself around the keel, and then around the anchor chain. We all helped land this one, even launching the tender where Mick eventually grabbed the fish by the tail and lifted it into the boat. Bloody hilarious way to catch a fish!

A few celebratory beers turned into a great night of beer wine and dancing. We certainly were the noisy ones at this anchorage!

  • Airlie Beach

    May 10, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Spent the last day of our trip motoring around Long Island...checking out South Molle resort, Day Dream resort then anchored at Happy Bay for lunch. It was pretty windy and exposed, so we decided to head back to Airlie and anchor out the front of the Marina for the night.

Cooked and crumbed the Golden Trevally which was beautiful. Another great night on the water with the lights of Airlie Beach providing a perfect backdrop.

    May 13, 2021 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

Just an overnight stop on the way south to Yeppoon. A private cattle property where we parked beside a creek. Cows and cow shit everywhere, but at least it's off the highway and quiet.

  • Yeppoon

    May 16, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Stayed 3 days at Beachside Caravan Park at Yeppoon. 3rd time we've stayed here and very lucky to get 3 beachside sites.

Had a very relaxing stay after our busy week at Airlie...lots of walks on the beach, walks through town, ice creams, fish and chips etc.

Marg and I had dinner at the Strand Hotel on Saturday night...great meals.

    May 19, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Stayed at Capt Cook Holiday Village as we couldn't get in to Agnes Water Beach Holdays. Lots of trees, and too far from the beach, but ok otherwise.

We went on the Larc tour which was great fun...managed to spot sting rays, birds and even some playful dolphins escorted us home.Read more

  • Bargara Beach

    May 22, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Spent some time at New Age and Willow caravan dealers looking at their wares. Really like the construction and light weight of the Willow, but they are a bit pricey.

Did a tour of the Bundy Rum factory...not as good as last time, but tasted the top shelf rum which was very smooth.

Our 10 year old reclining chairs are finally giving up the ghost so bought a new flash one for Marg...mine is still hanging in there.

Caught the ferry over to Noosa North Shore and stayed close to the beach at the campground.

Ian and Jane visited and stayed for a few hours as well.

Let the tyre pressures down and went beach driving up to Double Island Point lighthouse....great views from up here! Checked out the short Leisha track over to Rainbow Beach on the way back to camp before the tide came in.

We all said our goodbyes from here, as the Sheeran's and Spanner's headed home, and the Quetti's continued south towards Canberra. A great holiday was had by all!!
