    Fredericton

    September 20, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

What a lovely visit to Mom.

She retired and moved to Fredericton this year, and this way my first visit to their new place.

I introduced my girlfriend to my mom and her partner, visited St. Andrews, and Saint John to visit some of my girlfriends friends.

Always great to see Mom and Bill. They lent us their car to have our road trip through Nova Scotia which was lovely of them.

Never enough time to see my Mom. Can't wait to see her again!

  • Hopewell Rocks

    September 26, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

First stop on our road trip through the maritimes, Hopewell Rocks! Famous for having the largest tidal swing in the world, we were lucky to be able to stop by at low tide and fully explore the beach and the cool rock formations. High happens roughly every 6 hours and the water level can change by up to 14 meters!Read more

  • Halifax

    September 26, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

After seeing Hopewell Rocks on the way from Fredericton, Halifax was our first over stay on the road trip.

We met up with my cousin Lacey and her boyfriend for a night, it was great to see them!

Had our fill of delicious seafood on the water front, visited Peggy's Cove, had more than a few drinks and caught some live music downtown.

Halifax is a beautiful city, and it's tons of fun. I do wish we had more time here as we only had enough time to do short visits to the citadel, markets, breweries, parks and to explore the bustling downtown. Would love to go back one day!

  • Baddeck

    September 29, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

We headed from Halifax to Cape Breton Island to do the Cabot Trail!

Cape Breto is gorgeous! Baddeck is a lovely little town famous for hosting Alexander Graham Bell for a time in the 1800s. He worked on many of his projects here, and is buried in the area.

We had more delicious seafood, toured the Bell museum, did some hiking along gorgeous cliffs, and we were super lucky with the weather! We were able to get in 2 days on the beaches in Ingonish and and Black Brook Cove. There was also a galeic 'Cielidh', a gathering where they play music and explain aspects of Gaelic/Cape Breton culture. The fiddle player was phenomenal!

Sadly I didn't get any photos but we had a great night of stargazing at a small local observatory run by a single, passionate stargazer. Two Rivers observatory is a great stop, and it's free! Highly recommend if you're ever in the area!

We stayed on a cute little house boat, but didn't have much time to enjoy as we were so busy for our couple days in the area! The gentle rocking of the boat was amazing to sleep though!

  • Meat Cove

    October 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ 🌬 10 °C

What a pleasant surprise at the northern most point in Cape Breton.

Meat Cove is essentially just a camp ground but Wow! It is gorgeous with the huge cliffs, and the fall colours were in full swing!

We had a delicious crobster (crab and lobster) roll, which we were told is a must here, saw the exceptionally haunting inukshuk beach, and hiked Meat Cove mountain after taking in a sunrise. We even made our own Inukshuk to add to the beach! What a surprisingly unique and interesting find!

Highly recommend staying here if you're ever on the Cabot Trail!

  • Inverness

    October 2, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Inverness was a short stop but very nice! We visited the oldest scotch distillery in Canada, skinny dipped in a gorgeous quarry lake, and caught the sunset and seeing sunrise in Meat Covs that morning!

We were frozen solid after sitting on the beach so we got some nice seafood chowder to warm up, and headed back to our cabin to play crib!

This was our last stop along the Cabot Trail, and we headed back to Fredericton next.

From Fredericton we had a couple chill days, visited my friend Nick, and headed back to Calgary.

What a great first trip together!

    Can't wait for many more!

  • Prince Edward Island

    October 4, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

PEI was a must visit for me, to see my cousin Jamie.

Family has always been important to me and I couldn't miss an opportunity to create a connection with someone who's always been regarded as a great man.

It was lovely of them to host us, feed us, and give us great tips for exploring PEI. We had yet more mussels, Jamie bought 10 lbs! We sang a few songs, caught up on family, and spent more time on the beach.

I hope Jamie and Leah come to stay if they ever head out west!
