The tiny village has some amazingly grand houses overlooking the river Allier
The 13th century village church is very prettyViews from top road, over the riverThe river was running very fastThere is a very large beautiful 12th century Château above the villageThe village prides itself with its flowers and tidy gardensLots of topiary was in evidence wherever we lookedOne of the Château 5 towers is visible from the villageLarge house stands at the village entranceView down the main streetThe village was very quiet, and reminded us of the cotswoldsPretty and well kept gardensThe village is known for its "parc floral" a Jardin Remarquable. It was closing so we didn't visitManaged a quick peak at part of the gardenAnother one of the village housesThere is a brocante (junk/antique) shop which also doubles as baguette shop in the centreWe could see part of the garden from the parkupFree overnight parkup, just on village edge. Very quiet, without any services

    Apremont sur Allier, Cher

    May 28–29, 2024 in France ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

We are staying in an amazing Beau Village today at Apremont sur Allier, one of the most beautiful places we have visited. Its quite tiny but every property, garden and public space is so immaculately kept and the heady scent of flowers is everywhere. It's understandably a popular tourist destination but when we ventured out again in the evening we were the only ones around, it's quite a magical place. It's just us staying in the motorhome spot, it's very peaceful!Read more
