We started the day with a stop in Portomarín a stopover town on the Camino Francés.
The town has a remarkable recent history.
In 1963 with the construction of the Belesar Dam, the town of Portomarín which was founded on the banks of the Miño river was flooded by the river. The town was subsequently rebuilt on higher ground. Some of the most important building were disassembled and rebuilt with stones being numbered and reassembled in their present location.
