• Christchurch and a sad goodbye

    Jul 23–28, 2025 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

After saying goodbye to my faithful Steve Aragorn, I had the pleasure of staying with dear Mr and Mrs Everitt- Davies, Laura and Evan who I met on the very first days of this truly amazing career break! They were on the G Adventures tour and after a few days offered me a bed when I was in Christchurch. Obviously, I took them up on their kind offer.

I had such a lovely time with them and Walter the dog. I walked into the city and explored on my own but after they had finished work we chilled, ate amazing homecooked meals, chatted about life and travels and just had a really gorgeous time. I feel very blessed to have met so many wonderful people on my trip.

Christchurch has really suffered in recent years and I saw the devastating after effects of the earthquakes but also learnt about their resilience, love of their city and country and saw how they are rebuilding their city with love.

We went out and I actually stayed awake until after midnight 😂, that hasn't happened much on this trip.

We did a little tiki tour, wandered along lovely beaches and just enjoyed each other's company.

I also was lucky enough to have a chance to catch up with Sarah and Marcel, Marcel being my dear friend, Beth's brother and obviously Sarah her sister in law. A lovely catch up over coffee and sitting in the winter sun.

I can't sum up the last 8 weeks in just a few words, there is too much to say, so l will save that for when we met up, when we have time to look through these photos, to reminisce and to remember just how beautiful this country is.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories and now.. The final leg, the final country and a few months of rekindling some lovely old friendships! Here I come, Australia.
