    On the boat

    September 18, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

It was so exciting to be on the big ship. It felt like a hotel. Our room was really cool with bunks and a porthole. The rocking of the boat helped us sleep! There were even video games and a playground. It was a bit hard to be woken up at 5:15 am to drive our car off the ship.Read more

  • Hot chocolate & marbles

    September 18, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 5 °C

The weather was horrible so we went and had a hot chocolate. We went to Sheffield which had murals everywhere. It had a cool old shop that had everything from weapons to typewriters. It also had Marble World!Read more

  • A very high chair

    September 20, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

After arriving at our Caravan park near Launceston, we relaxed, played and had a BBQ for dinner. In the morning, we went to Cataract Gorge. There was a chair lift that was very high, a bit scary, but awesome fun! The river was a bit flooded and really fast. There were also peacocks and wallabies!Read more

  • Chess, monkeys & more hot chocolate

    September 20, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We headed into Launceston and went to City Park. There was a giant chess set, Japanese monkeys, ducks and pretty gardens. It was all really fun and then we had lunch and hot chocolate. We have seen so many spring babies... Lambs, calves, ducklings, monkeys!Read more

  • Hadspen

    September 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

We loved our cosy little cabin, and the playground and BBQ were close by. We had a spa! So of course we made a bubble apocalypse. There was a big bear head which actually was part of an aviary... The little quails could hide inside. And Ruby could pick herbs from the garden for our dinner.Read more

  • Leaving Launceston

    September 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

It was time to leave Launceston. We visited the lolly shop and then hit the road for a massive day of adventures. The first stop was seahorse world.

  • Amazing seahorses

    September 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

The tour of seahorse world was really amazing. We learnt a lot about them and saw them being fed. The babies ate sea monkeys!
We learned lots of facts. Seahorse dads are the ones who have the babies in their fat tummies. Seahorses have stiff jaws that can't open so they suck up their food as if they have a straw. They can all change colours to fit in with their habitat, but not blue or green!Read more

  • More of the seahorses and a few friends

    September 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

Ruby and mum even got to hold a seahorse! There was other sea creatures there too.

It was so hard to choose seahorse photos, we got so many great ones!

  • Legerwood and the not-so-open road

    September 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

It was a big day of driving. We had to have lots of stops. The best one was Legerwood. There were cool statues carved out of really big tree trunks. We went through forests, foggy mountains and down the east coast of Tassie. Sometimes there were cows on the road! It was dark by the time we got to our next place to stay at Coles bay but we got there.Read more

  • Cabin at Coles Bay

    September 22, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 10 °C

We woke up to see our new location in the light for the first time. Our cabin has a view of the water and the whole area was very pretty. There was a playground and the beach was just across the road.

  • Devils and quolls, but no tigers

    September 22, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

Natureworld was great! They rescue wounded animals and try to breed extras of the endangered animals too. There was a Tasmanian Devil who was used to pillows and blankets cos a rescuer let him! We all loved seeing the devils up close. Pretty special!

We learned lots of facts and even saw examples of their poo! Tassie devils eat a LOT of meat. They eat even the bones and fur of the animals they catch, and are NOT good at sharing. We saw 3 sister devils fighting over a wallaby tail! Yuk. Devils have great smell and can smell food or animals 2kilometres away, and even tell if the animals are boys, girls or how old by their smell. They can hardly see! The girl devils have 30 babies at a time but can only look after 4, so that sounds a bit tough for the others!

We loved the spotted tail Quoll who was called Aurora. She is a predator too. Cute but fierce!

  • More photos from Natureworld

    September 22, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 10 °C

We got to feed and pat lots of great animals. So many pictures, so hard to choose! Ruby patted the sugar glider and got bitten, we decided that was a rare and unique experience not many people have.

  • Walking in Freycinet

    September 23, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

Mum and dad dragged us to the national park, then we found out it was beautiful and the walking tracks were fun! We loved the little flowers and colourful rocks and glittery sea. It's important to look after the plants and animals- Ruby wasn't allowed to pick the flowers!Read more

  • Pizza, ice-cream and wine

    September 23, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

We were hungry after all the walking so had pizza for lunch in Coles Bay before hitting the road again. We didn't make it too far before having to stop for ice cream. Mum and Dad made us go to a winery.
It sounded really boring but it turned out OK. There was really old stuff everywhere and the lady gave us toys to play with.

  • Finally some decent WiFi

    September 23, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

We arrived at our new home for the next 6 nights. It is at Seven Mile Beach which is near Hobart. It has a pool and a playground. Best of all, it has good WiFi. We had really missed that. We think that the whole world should have really good WiFi.Read more

  • Salamanca and swimming

    September 24, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Mum and Dad made us go to the Salamanca markets. Mum was excited, she loves markets. It was kinda OK but some of the stalls were a bit boring for us. We did get beanie boos and donuts though. After, we went to Constitutional Dock for ice cream. Then at last we could go for a swim. The pool and spa were heated and great fun! We saw a potoroo near the pool! It looked like a mini kangaroo crossed with a rat. Cute!Read more

  • Shivering on Mount Wellington

    September 25, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 3 °C

We went up Mount Wellington in the morning. It was about 15 degrees in Hobart but only 3.5 degrees at the top of the mountain. The wind made it feel much colder than that. We couldn't feel our noses after a couple of minutes. The views were great but we were pretty happy to get back down and warm up again.Read more

  • Brixhibition!

    September 25, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

Guess what we found at Hobart City Hall? A Lego exhibition!! So many great models to see and of course a little Lego shop. It felt a bit like home. There was even a huge model of the Salamanca area where we went to the market yesterday.Read more

  • Beach and "belaxing"

    September 26, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Today we got to relax and not go anywhere except the beach across the road. The beach was too cold to swim but we found heaps of interesting shells. We had 2 big swims in the pool and played in the playground. It was a pretty fun day. Swimming is Ruby's favourite thing of the holiday!Read more

  • Tessellated Pavement

    September 27, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We set off on a big adventure. Our first big stop for the day (we did stop for a sausage roll and toilets first really) was at a place called the Tessellated Pavement. It was caused by salt crystals getting stuck in little cracks in the rocks. The straight lines were amazing to see! It was slippery.Read more
