  • A day in Bath

    August 30, 2023 in England ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

A day in Bath - 20 mins on the train straight into the City Centre. I reminisced thinking back to when I worked in Bath in my late teens, early 20s. We wandered round the shops and visited lots of old sandstone buildings, Bath Weir & the of course the Royal Circle. Then we had a delicious lunch at Cosy Club, and Jasin got to have his first English Cream Tea at Sweet Little Things. And best of all the rain held off.Read more

  • Swindon Days

    August 31, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

We had a lovely time staying in Swindon - got lots of work on The Dens done. And enjoyed walks along the old railway line and along the canal to Waitrose. With Jasin as my pack horse. Yvonne and Gary came back from Spain and we spent 24 hrs with them. Most was spent working after Shopify decided to ask lots of questions about the site! We ended with an amazing meal at Fabio’s Italian! Delicious.Read more

    September 4, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We made it happen! Gladys was visiting from Trinidad 🇹🇹 for 6 days. So on Monday she took a tube and train to High Wycombe where I picked her up in Yvonne’s car.
Drove back to Mums where we enjoyed a lovely lunch!
We worked out mum and Gladys hadn’t seen each other for 50 years!! How amazing.
Gladys Brough a turtle and jelly fish carved by Ernest. ❤️ fingers crossed 🤞🏼 we can get them back in to Aus.

  • Mum, James & Thames

    September 10, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

We hired a boat and took Jasin along the Thames. Mum came with us which was great - it was hard for her getting in and out of the boat but she made the effort.
A proper Sunday lunch at the Shillingford Bridge hotel was delicious.
The weather was hot and sunny, then cold and rainy!!
But all in all it was a special moment.

  • Final Days in UK

    September 11, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Our last day was spent at Mums. Jasin and I took a walk up Watlington Hill for a last look over Watlington.
We took Mum and James out to the Granary for lunch and then spend the afternoon packing and working (of course).
Our last Supper was at the local Indian, which is now run by Romanians. The food was delicious and we left feeling very fat!!
A 4:15 alarm woke us up and we took a local taxi to Heathrow T2. Back in business class we were ushered through and took our extra bag to leave in Bangkok! Full of some goodies to take home.
We were able to use the Lufthansa Lounge which was so relaxing before priority boarding onto Austrian Airlines- row 3. Next stop Vienna!

  • Vienna Day 1

    September 12, 2023 in Austria

1st stop from the UK was Vienna… this visit was actually added by our travel agent to save us a huge amount on airport taxes when we were leaving the UK!
Yesterday we visited the city centre with the main shopping area. There are so many amazing old buildings everywhere, it was just beautiful. We had our first strudel!

What I did spot were a group of 6 scammers getting passers by to bet on which cup the ball was under. The passers by had to bet 50euro and if they got it right they doubled their money. It was easy to win, I was watching. I think what was happening was the scammers were giving out counterfeit 50euro notes when the public ‘won’ and pocketing the genuine currency … there were 2 spotters, and 3 pretending to also be members of the public playing. Needless to say as soon as they were spooked they split up and walked away in different directions.

  • Schönbrunn Palace

    September 13, 2023 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Day 2 - took two tubes to the Palace - as always far too expensive and busy to go inside - but there was so many free gardens and beautiful statues to visit - we ended up doing over 15,000 steps!

  • Austria to Bangkok

    September 14, 2023 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

A 10 hour night flight is always a challenge - but made easier when you turn left.
We had seats 3D and 3G.
We were 40 minutes leaving as we were waiting for two delayed flights from LHR and Germany.
Once up and settled we got to choose from the menu and dinner was served.
I finally had a try at sleeping at around 2:30am - it was hot and a tight fit but I got a couple of broken hours.
Also got to watch the Whitney movie - so sad.

  • Austria to Bangkok

    September 14, 2023 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

So Austrian Airways Business class- mixed reviews.
We left 40 minutes late as we had to wait for some late connecting flights. But we made up most of that time.
The pods were nice enough and the service was good. The menu was nice as was the first meal. But breakfast was yuck! And the toilets didn’t have any soap in them which wasn’t good.
I managed a couple of hours sleep in the liedown seat. But it was a tight fit and super hot.
We got through passport control quickly and our bags were ready for us.

  • Good Bye Austria

    September 15, 2023 in Austria ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

For our last night we went out for dinner and I was hoping for a schnitzel - it was a lovely restaurant but no snittys.
After a pretty hot and restless sleep I was up at 5:30 and getting ready for a big day a head. We were able to secure a late 2pm checkout - for a 25€ fee of course - nothings free here.
We headed out for our schnitzel at an amazing Michelin star restaurant. It was nice - but once was enough!
By 7pm we had sailed through checkin - the joys of business class and then relaxed in the lounge until our 11:25pm flight.
I have to say this lounge has the worst food - hardly any choice and not very nice. The only saving grace was a cider soup which was delicious, sweet and cinnamony.
We now wait to board our 10 hr flight.

  • Hello Bangkok for 12 hrs

    September 15, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

After arriving at BKK I was delayed at customs with a new guy trying to work out all my stamps in my passport!
We then picked up our bags that were waiting for us and dropped our new big red bag at the luggage storage for 27 days! We’ll pick it up on the way home.
The driver was waiting for us and took us the 1.5 hrs across the city to our hotel which was next to tomorrows airport at Don Mueang. We stayed at a quirky little hotel run by a couple of lovely Thai ladies.
Dinner out ended up being takeaway from 7Eleven as we didn’t want to risk all the street food - especially with Jasins dodgy guts.

  • Male to Innahura

    September 16, 2023 on the Maldives ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Flight #19 - this one was much more exciting - my first ever flight on a Seaplane. After a false start (broken fuel gauge) we took off and travelled 45 minutes to our home for the next week or so.
Our beach bungalow is specious and the aircon works a treat! We have our own private section of beach with the reef right outside our door.
The all you can eat buffet will be the death of us three times a day. So far dinner and breakfast have been delicious.
Went off snorkeling this morning right outside our front door. Saw lots of small fish and a Eagle Ray.
4 time zones in 2 days is certainly catching up with us - bring on a lot of R&R.

  • First Day at Innahura

    September 17, 2023, Laccadive Sea ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Innahura is amazing. The rooms are in two lines - sunset or sunrise facing.
Ours is sunrise facing - number 125. The room is so spacious with great aircon, a fan, and an outdoor bathroom with shower, vanity and basin.
We have our own section of private beachfront with loungers and a table and chairs.
There’s even just a hose to wash feet.
Since we arrived I have not worn a pair of shoes - it’s barefoot all the way!
It’s the cusp of the rainy season so every day is different

  • First Days at Innahura

    September 18, 2023 on the Maldives ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

Photos from the first few days.

Love the room, and our little beach.
Super grateful that the wifi stretches to the sea - so we can still work.
Snorkelling around the Island Reefs, the coral is dead which was sad, but there were still heaps of fish.
Lots of food … diet starts when we get back!
Turquoise water as far as the eye can see.
    Little sunset tonight.

  • Photoshoot!!

    September 24, 2023, Laccadive Sea ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

We took advantage of the offer of the free photoshoot with receptionist Asham - he certainly did well - and when it came to choosing the shots he let us have them all for free!!

  • Koh Lipe we have arrived !

    September 26, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

After two days of travel we arrived!
Spent the first half day exploring.
People are so friendly but definitely poor. Our room had great views of the beach when the Chinese tourists weren’t taking selfies outside!
And the hardest bed I have ever slept on - but otherwise it was lovely.
