• Cairns to Brisbane

    3月14日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Today we made the journey from Cairns to Brisbane. We started the day with brunch in downtown Cairns at The Chambers(it was fantastic!)

Following brunch we dropped the rental car at the airport before working on trip planning until our flight.

Once we arrived in Brisbane we did more planning from the hotel before going out to dinner at TukTuk Restaurant and Bar(Thai food). We followed this up by going to a comedy show at the Brisbane Powerhouse.

The Brisbane Powerhouse was a really neat venue, as it was previously a power station that was converted into an art and music center. The interior walls and support system were all original, and covered in graffiti from the decades the building was filled with homeless following its useful life as a power station. This was all left intact to give the building serious style points, with only parts of the interior redone. Interestingly, you can pay to dine on the side of the building on chairs suspended from the wall.

The set opened with a local comedian who was pretty good, and the headliner comedian was an American from LA. Chels and I thought he was pretty good as well, although very crass(Craig Conant). The crowd was very belligerent. A drunk man in the balcony kept professing his love for the comedian to the point the show had to be paused for security to escort him out. You know the crowd is bad when a comedian stops a show 5+ times. He even forgot where he was in the show and redid part of it 😂.

All in all it was a great, albeit late night(we weren’t home and in bed until after midnight). Tomorrow we explore Brisbane!
