Exploring Brisbane
March 15 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F
Today we ferried up and down the Brisbane River, checking out the bulk of the city, and really getting a sense for what Brisbane has to offer!
We started the day with coffee and breakfast at a cafe right by our hotel(Billy Deans Cafe), before making our way over to the ferry that runs the bulk of the Brisbane River. The ferry was AWESOME. It only cost 50cents per ride(as far as you want to go) and the ferry catamarans were incredibly fast. It only took an hour to go the entire length of the city(including all of the stops).
We ferried past the Kangaroo Cliffs which are massive cliffs along the riverside that people rock climb during the day(mansions are built on top), and stopped for lunch at the Howard Smith Wharves. This was an awesome area filled with bars and restaurants, and outdoor areas for enjoying the day. We opted for Greek food at Greca, and then had beers at a brewery called Felons.
Following this, we ferried to the end of the line to check out the nice houses and yachts in the suburbs, before heading downtown for rooftop drinks at The Terrace rooftop bar which had an incredible view of the skyline.
We enjoyed our drinks and then started to the public Skydeck. On our way, we passed a huge man made beach, river, and swimming complex open to the public in the heart of the city which was quite neat. Once we finished checking that out, we headed over the river via pedestrian bridge to the Brisbane Skydeck. This rooftop vantage is actually free to access, as it is on top of a large casino and houses a ton of bars and restaurants. It was quite crowded, but had great views and glass floors so you could see beneath you.
We hopped back on the ferry afterwards and ended the night at Eat Street NorthShore, which is a massive outdoor food market built from hundreds of shipping containers. The area was PACKED, and had multiple djs and artists performing, at least 50 restaurants, multiple bars, and other vendors selling treats. The market was super impressive and a ton of fun!Read more

The city is lit up so beautifully (and it isn’t even the holiday season).
