• Yulara to Melbourne

    March 20 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 77 °F

Today we arrived in Melbourne from Uluru.

It was an uneventful flight, and we quickly got down to business upon landing! We checked into our hotel(Hotel Windsor, which was an older iconic hotel in the CBD), and then made our way to the Caretaker’s Cottage for cocktails.

Caretaker’s Cottage was the old groundskeeper’s cottage from a beautiful old church. It was incredibly tight inside, and jam packed with people. We were struck by how kind the employees were; one bar tender actually spent 10 or so minutes with us, giving us recommendations for not only Melbourne, but Tasmania where we are headed next.

Following drinks, we headed to a Greek restaurant called Stalactites for dinner. The interior of this restaurant was really unique, as they’d created stalactites hanging from the roof in every single room.

After dinner we headed towards the highlight of the evening, our first Australian Football League game! This arena was massive, housing over 100,000 attendees. We had fantastic seats right in the front behind the goal, and were impressed by the energy of the crowds. It was a party in the stands!

The game was a bit hard to follow as the rules were very different from American sports, but we had an absolute blast!!
