• Exploring Melbourne

    March 21 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

Today we continued our exploration of Melbourne, and took the free tram around the central business district.

Our first stop was Victoria Market, an absolutely massive market housing food stalls, souvenir and clothing stalls, established brick and mortar restaurants, and en entire indoor market for cheese and meat. We enjoyed chai tea as we explored, and once we’d had our fill of the market headed back to the tram.

Our next stop was the Melbourne Skydeck, which is one of the highest public accessible viewing areas in the city. The views were sublime, and we were able to see many of the areas we’d already visited from a new vantage point.

After the Skydeck, we headed to the National Gallery of Victoria which was a public art gallery housed in an absolutely majestic building. This was free to the public, so we enjoyed exploring their 3 floors of art, including items from the 12 century up through modern day!

We ended the day walking the South Wharf area, which was a beautiful riverfront walk lined by restaurants and shops. This area was jampacked with people and had a lot going on! We picked a Lebanese restaurant called Byblos(same name as the Lebanese in Bondi!) for dinner, and then called it an early night as we have to get up at 5am tomorrow for our hot air balloon adventure over the city!
