• Bruny Island

    March 25 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

Today, we took an ocean ferry from the Tasmania mainland over to Bruny Island.

Before making our way to the Ferry, we stopped at Jackman & McRoss for breakfast. This cafe was super cute, and had INCREDIBLE food! Chris tried out a wallaby and blackberry meat pie, and has sampled most of the different outback meats at this point.

Bruny Island is unique in that there are tons of places to view birds(like penguins!) and other local wildlife. We drove the length of the island, stopping at The Neck to view a very slender piece of land connecting north and south Bruny Island. You could see hundreds of burrows across this piece of land where sea birds and penguins nest during certain parts of the year.

We further made our way up the coast, stopping at many pretty bays and coastal stops. Unfortunately we didn’t see any penguins, as they typically come in from the ocean after dark, but we did see a ton of local birds!

Following Bruny Island, we ferried back to the Tasmania mainland and made our way to North Hobart for dinner. Apparently North Hobart is the local scene, so it was cool checking out everyday Hobart life. We opted for Vietnamese food at OGrill Saigon express, and indulged in some delicious pho in preparation for our upcoming travels in Vietnam.

Tomorrow, we will explore Port Arthur and fly on to Adelaide!
