• Exploring Kuala Lumpur

    April 12 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 90 °F

Today, we explored Kuala Lumpur in much more depth. We started our day with a delicious buffet at our hotel, following that with a walk through the city to the Bukit Bintang area.

Bukit Bintang is known as a shopping district, and the neighborhood housed huge malls as well as rooftop restaurants and bars. The area was packed with pedestrians, and had music blasting for various pop up shops. We were getting quite hot so we ducked into a mall to enjoy the ac. Shopping malls appear to be a huge part of the culture, as the malls were gigantic and absolutely packed with people- it seems many people want to beat the heat and humidity!

We opted to catch a Grab to our next destination, the KL Tower and observation deck. This tower got us nice and high for picturesque views of the city. We really enjoyed this, and we got a good view of the Petronas Twin Towers which were our destination for later in the evening.

We grabbed back to the hotel to relax and plan, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset from the hotel. Once it had cooled off and the city had come alive with lights, we headed to the Petronas Twin Towers to check out the massive shopping mall at the bottom, and the cool light and music show they put on nightly. The light show was very cool, and it was especially neat seeing how well the city lights up its skyline. We wanted to try a bar at the top of the towers, but when we got up there realized it was a smoking allowed bar, and it was apparently a club, as extremely loud music was bumping! That wasn’t the vibe we were looking for, so we headed back to the mall and enjoyed a traditional Malaysian meal and desert in the food court before heading home.
