• Exploring Verona and Lazise

Today we explored Verona, and visited Lazise on Lake Garda.

We started our day with cappuccinos at a new spot, they were excellent! Following that we took the 1.5 hour drive to Verona.

Verona was a super cute city, with a huge medieval wall surrounding the old town core. Our exploration of Verona started us in the historic center, where we checked out Verona’s arena, which is actually older and better preserved than the colosseum in Rome!

Following the arena, we checked out the Piazza Della Erbe, which is a beautiful plaza in the center of the city that has the Torre dei Lamberti on one edge of it(this was a tower we planned to climb). We grabbed fantastic paninis on the edge of the piazza, and then headed up the tower for panoramic views.

After enjoying the tower’s vantage point, we headed to the Ponte Pietra bridge for views of the city, river, and nearby Castel San Pietro, which is a castle overlooking the city. Following this we walked to one more bridge, the Castelvecchio Bridge, for some last views before heading back to our car.

For our next destination we headed to Lazise on Lake Garda. This was a quaint old town with a large castle on one edge, and a nice harbor and waterfront promenade. Temperatures were high as we explored, so we did a lap of town to take in the sights and headed home to relax.

At home we cooked again(Chelsea made carbonara!) and we enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco while in the Prosecco region of Italy 😊
