• Exploring Croda Da Lago

    6月23日, イタリア ⋅ ☁️ 63 °F

Today we hiked the Croda Da Lago circuit, hiking over 8.5 miles and 2,800 feet of elevation.

We woke up early today and immediately grabbed coffee and breakfast at our bed and breakfast before heading out to Croda Da Lago. We’d heard parking ran out fast, and wanted a spot!

We thankfully snagged a spot, and began our hike alongside a crystal clear creak fed by snow melt. Initially the hike was heavily forested, but around thirty percent of the way in the trees broke and we arrived at our first stop, Lago Federa, which is a beautiful mountain lake ringed by mountains. We enjoyed looking at the lake, and then views from the rifugio nearby, before heading up the side of the mountain. The hike is a circuit around Croda Da Lago, and as we got higher we got some epic views, before wrapping around the backside of the mountain.

On the backside of the mountain we were greeted by even more splendid views, as well as a decently challenging boulder scramble as we made our way down. Finally, we worked our way through the boulders, and completed the circuit, with both of us pretty tired!

We headed back to our bed and breakfast and had an early pizza dinner, and then called it a night!
