• Tofana Di Mezzo

    June 24, 2025 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 48 °F

Today we went to the peak of Tofana Di Mezzo, the third highest peak in the Dolomites.

We started our day with breakfast and coffee at our BnB, and then had gelato! We’d actually found a fantastic local gelato place last night after we’d posted the blog, and liked it so much we opted to have it again at 10am before we moved on to our next location 😊 The morning gelato did NOT disappoint, and they had some of the coolest unique flavors, like nettle and cream(made with stinging nettles!), pineapple & sage, and pear & ginger.

After gelato we hit the road, driving to our first stop, the base of Tofana Di Mezzo. You actually climb this mountain via a ski lift and two cable cars, and at the top you are greeted by panoramic views that are hard to beat. The ski runs down this mountain look like a blast, and both of us agree we need to come back to ski them. Another cool thing to note is that the town at the base of the mountain is Cortina d'Ampezzo, and this is where the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held! We were blown away by how much building was going on, both in town, and on the base of the mountain for the games.

After getting our fills of views on the mountain we headed to our next location, Lake Misurina. This lake was very picturesque, so we took some pictures, and then headed on to our new home for the next few days in Dobbiaco. We were thrilled to find that our new apartment is one of our favorite places we’ve stayed yet, on top of being one of the cheapest- what a win!

We went grocery shopping a few buildings down the street, and then settled in to some fantastic home cooking Chelsea prepared(carbonara with sun dried tomatoes, and sautéed vegetables).
