Exploring Liechtenstein

Today we explored Liechtenstein, the sixth smallest country in the world.

We started our day with coffee and breakfast at the hotel, before driving Henry to the Zurich airport for a sad farewell and sendoff. We will miss traveling with him!

After dropping Henry we drove from Zurich to Liechtenstein, stopping first at Gutenberg Castle in Balzers. This castle stood proud on a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside, and while it was no longer in use it was well maintained and we enjoyed exploring its grounds and the views of the area it oversaw.

Our next stop was the ski town of Malbun, where we took a cable car to the top of the mountain range surrounding the town for views of the town below, and the surrounding mountains. The area was beyond picturesque, and looked a lot like nearby Switzerland.

Our final stop in Liechtenstein was the capital Vaduz. We grabbed dinner here at a local spot, and then explored the main street, checking out the parliament building. We also got a good look at Vaduz Castle, which is where the prince who rules the country lives, overseeing the town from a nearby mountain.

After enjoying Liechtenstein we dropped our rental car off in Zurich, and then trained to our hotel for the evening. Tomorrow we head to Cyprus!Read more
