Kyoto

I got on a train from Osaka going to Kyoto and I wandered around the streets of my area as I couldn't check-in yet. I had lunch and just walked around aimlessly until finding my way back to my hostel. I had a long rest since my legs were still tired from climbing Mt. Kongo but soon I was out and about heading to Fushimi Inari.

It was time to experience Kyoto's empty tourism campaign and it sure did deliver. The whole place was empty, I couldn't even find someone to take my picture. It was surreal to have such a holy place all to myself. What seemed to be like an endless stream of torii gates, continuing in all directions leading up and down, left and right. I tried to see where each path went only to be dragged further and further from where I was supposed to go. It was definitely worth it though, I've seen cemeteries, frog ponds, bamboo forests, and even waterfalls. Continuing on, I found my path back and hiked my way to the top and saw an awesome view of Kyoto and further up was the summit. Nothing to special but a summit all the same. I took my time going down and found myself taking another detour into a forest that kept on going forever, I had to turn back as the trees started to cover the sky and it grew darker, colder and extremely quiet, it started to irk me a bit especially when I started to hear startled sounds coming from the bush and I did see warnings on wild boars so I definitely chose to turn back. I left the temple grounds extremely satisfied and went back home to take a hot bath and played some Animal Crossing.Read more
