Miura

After a train and a bus, Nikita and I found ourselves in Miura. This place was known as the Tuna Town and it was immediately made apparent to us since every restaurant seemed to advertise tuna, or maguro in Japanese. I had first wanted to check out the sea shrine, Kainan Shrine before grabbing lunch.

On the way to the shrine, we saw a cat with lunch in its mouth, poor lizard. It scuttled its way into the graveyard probably excited to chow down. Kainan Shrine had excellent vibes, with a lot of koinobori, or carp streamers, strung about. There was a shrine dedicated to Inari as well as a horse kami. The main shrine had a severed tuna head on display which felt so out of place but okay why not. After praying, we went to find lunch. We just had to try out the tuna ramen which the town was famous for but unfortunately the restaurant serving it was closed so we went to another one nearby. After a long wait, we finally got to order along with some spicy prawns as a side dish. It was surprisingly good, but definitely not the real thing.
