• Okutama III

Every autumn, Okutama seems to beckon me with its enchanting fiery hues. And once again, I found myself in familiar scenery as I tread through fresh mountain air.

This time around, I went to visit Lake Okutama. Last year when a friend and I did the hike to Mt. Mito, we briefly passed through this majestic lake. Ever since then, it got stuck in my mind and I wanted to get a closer look.

Now that it was finally in front of me, I can safely say it was so worth it. The lake's vast expanse was awe-inspiring, the calming blue while surrounded by autumn-shaded mountains made for exquisite photos. Walking around the perimeter to the right and then to the left, past the dam to the other side, I saw a walking trail that would encircle the lake. It was such a great idea to do and I would probably come back again next year to do it.

But I came here for a reason and it was to do the hike to Mt. Gozen and luckily the trailhead was just by the lake.
