Hillside Cemetery

I don’t know the story behind this cemetery, but we passed it on our way to the Jerusalem’s walled city. The bags you see are full of broken rocks. I saw city workers repairing sections.

Our guide mentioned that in Israel, no one is crèmated, nor do they use caskets. People are placed in shrouds, then buried directly into the earth. “This lets nature do her job,” he explained.Læs mere
