• Hanging in the Mangroves

    It's mighty quiet on the roads and there are offerings on all of the altars. I know something's up. It turns out to be Chinese New Year. The Thai also celebrate their ancestors on this day. I see many setting off fireworks and many crouched in prayer.

    I ride by my favorite Buddha statue I have seen so far. It exudes an amazing sense of peace.

    In order to be closer to the ferry I upgraded my stay to a nice resort on the edge of a mangrove. It turns out to be super. There is a swing built on a rickety, rope bound, set of bamboo poles. It's an amazing perch from which to observe the wildlife in the mangroves which consists mostly of white egrets.

    It's quiet in the resort, I meet a French couple, they just came back from Ko Chang and it was very busy there, Ko Kood will probably be so too. That's ok, I've been off the track.
