Best museum tour EVER

Today's adventure was the 3-years-in-the-making visit to the World's Largest motorcycle museum, the Barber Vintage Motorcycle!

We arrived right at noon, opening time for a Sunday. Lucky dad joined us today, as he thought of doing it Monday but they're closed for Memorial Day.

We're very happy we learned about the guided tour! It started at 1pm and Alfred shared an amazing amount of history over 4+ hours. Nine folks started the tour but we outlasted them all. We even got access to the restoration garage area in the basement. We left just before closing(6pm).

They did an incredible job building this facility!Read more

🏍️ California Superbike School 🏍️

We had the most amazing three days (Level 1, 2 and 3) zooming motorcycles around this impressive race track! California Superbike School has been around decades and they have perfected a world class experience. Every detail is planned out and they offer to handle anything unexpected too.

Our instructors and coaches are passionate. Classroom sessions, 20 minute track times, coach feedback, video recording bike, video from instructor following you, great food, ... and great riders all focused on allowing each person to improve their riding! I believe we travelled the furthest of any participants to join 👍😎

The lean bike at 20mph in the parking lot really helped me understand the feeling of leaning it, and my lap times improved . Over three days my fun increased and brain got a bit saturated from digesting a lot of new skills.

A few weeks later we were emailed our lap times. Though speed isn't the ultimate goal, we all made significant improvements while having an amazing experience!

Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum 2.Tag

Heute durfte ich nochmal das Motorradparadies besuchen, um den Rest anzuschauen. Es ist der Wahnsinn, was dort steht. 350 Bilder in 2 Tagen! Ich konnte sogar die allseits bekannt und berühmte Ducati von Mike Hailwood bestaunen und betatschen, jedoch leider nur eine Replika, wie sich später erga😔 Agostinis MV Agusta WM Maschinen und und und.
Auch für einen Smalltalk mit einem der Mitarbeiter blieb Zeit. Der erzählte uns, er habe dort ein Jahr nach seinem Ruhestand mit 60 durch Zufall anfangen können. Er nannte es seine Cinderella Story. Er fährt seit seinem 6 Lebensjahr Motorrad. Achim hat gleich gefragt, ob für mich nicht auch noch eine Stelle frei ist 😄. Im Moment nicht, ich wäre sonst hier geblieben, wenn Gundi und Neila rüber gekommen wären😏. Für ein Foto von unseren BMWs mit den deutschen Nummernschildern war auch noch Zeit.
Morgen geht's weiter Richtung Florida.Read more

Traveler Kayla, KY#31, now 15 yr old young lady, 3rd in Jr Cup last yr (14 yrs old), moved up to 650cc Twins Cup. 1st race of yr, returning from injury, frt row qual., rain race🚩, restarted Kayla from pole, finished on the podium!🏁 Go Miss Yaakov!

Traveler Threading the needle, Herrin (who says he lost brakes!). The latter was responsible riding (irresponsible if an attempt at late-braking, alone!!)

Traveler Yeah he had a bad head shake on the straight before this which he said pushed the pads back in the calipers and gave him the no brakes at that corner. Amazing no one went down or got hurt!

Traveler #4, a 914 Porsche? If only I could have found 1 not unibody rusted behind the psgr seat. Worst motor-head action in my history, pulling 1 out of a junkyard, stripping for parts, and then never getting (or finding!) a good 1 to restore😕. Sold boxes of parts before moving to MD.

Traveler Humorously now, my 'parts 914' nearly broke in 1/2 like the WW2 Bismark ship, when towed home. A bad sign, if doors being latched closed stiffens up the structure, substantially!

After two days of riding, Denise and I decided to take a break from the road and visit the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, a gem we couldn't pass up along our route. The massive collection of motorcycles took our breath away—everything from rare vintage models to cutting-edge designs. It felt like a journey through time, seeing how far the machines we love have come. We spent hours wandering the floors, geeking out over the incredible craftsmanship and history behind each bike. It was the perfect day to recharge, surrounded by the very thing that fuels our passion for the road.Read more
