Totem Bight is a state historical site in Ketchikan. This site held sacred by the natives has been salvaged and reconstructed. The site has several totem poles and a clan house. Our guide tells theWeiterlesen
The totem poles are carved from a single tree trunk. Pieces that stick out are added to that carved trunk/ They are painted in natural ochres.
Carved from a single tree trunk, the totem pole tells a story. It is hand carved using a traditional adze.
At Potlach Park, the owners are avid restorers of old cars and they have several on display.
With over 13 feet (156 inches) of rain annually, there are very few fine days here in Ketchikan. Moss grows on everything and the trees are tall in the canopy.
