    Branson, Missouri

    May 11, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Kristia suggested we head to Branson Missouri for the day. It is a 2 hour drive to the neighboring state, which is a town full of lots of very different activities. It's like a holiday town, very touristy with lots to do. The kids got to miss school today and kristias

Our original idea was to go and see Dolly Parton's Stampede dinner show but with the cost and timing it wasn't ideal for the kids. Instead we went to a pretty basic water park but the kids had a blast and it was only $15 a person. It had 2 water slides, a fast but short lazy river, a toddlers pool, a basketball pool, 2 hot tubs and a kids area to climb and water play.

We spent a few hours there after we had a lunch on the boardwalk and our entire party of all ages had fun. After being water logged we stayed in the same complex and the kids were able to choose one more activity. Charlotte and Brandon did glow in the dark mini golf, Isabelle did go karts, and maverick and Kristia did some zombie 3D game thing.

As it was another 2 hour drive back we had to have some dinner. Josh was over going out to dinner with the kids so we googled a park, got a pizza and enjoyed dinner at the park. The park was right next to a cute creek, so before we got back into the car we let Brandon and Inara play in the creek before we put PJs on.

    More of day 1

    September 16, 2017 ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

We had an authentic southern meal at the Farmhouse Restaurant. I even enjoyed the fried okra. Dessert was their famous blackberry cobbler, a well deserved reputation! We had to walk off all that food so strolled down to the lake at the end of the street. It looks like a river to us but nonetheless lovely. There were new (looked new anyway) hotels and lots of restaurants and shopping. We watched a fire works show/water fountain show that was quite amazing. It was a great first full day.Read more

    Sunday - 51st Anniversary

    September 17, 2017 ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

We had a relaxing morning driving through some beautiful countryside. Later in the day we headed for our next show. We boarded the Branson Belle Showboat.
Probably low on our entertainment level. Mediocre to poor dinner. Country extravaganza just OK. As usual I thought the musicians too loud for the vocals. Oh well. I prefer more Willie's Roadhouse (Serious XM) where I can hear and understand the lyrics.Read more

Wow!! The Doo Wop Drifters were AWESOME!! Such harmony. Such great voices and energy! The lead was about the 8th or 9th lead singer with the Drifters and his range amazing. He had us all participating and the whole theater was clapping and singing 🎤. Loved their coordinated movements and loved the nostalgia of the songs. Great concert!!Read more

We just went to a free Johnny Cash Tribute by Jackson Cash (no relation). His voice sounded a lot like Johnny's and we loved the music. He did a great tribute to the military and invited war vets, wives & widows up on stage. It was very moving!Read more

    Wednesday in Branson

    September 20, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

We went to another fantastic concert this morning! Waylon, Willie & the Good Old Boys. This duo is keeping classic country alive in Branson. We heard not only Waylon and Willie (my personal favorite) but lots of music from days gone by, like Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Hank Williams and more. One was a virtuoso guitar player and both had great voices. They were joined by a lovely young lady who sang Patsy Cline's Crazy (also a favorite) plus a couple of more. We both LOVED It.Read more

We're at our next concert, A Tribute to John Denver by James Garrett. LOVE John Denver. While lots of people in the 70s and 80s were listening to rock, we were listening to John Denver...and Willie and Neil Diamond. James is great and was John's friend and toured with him. GREAT music!Read more
