  • Seat Trivia

    July 21 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

The seats on the plane (at least in coach) started with A and ended with K. But there are only 8 seats: 2-4-2. Which 3 letters didn't they use? :-)
Hint I'm pretty sure that Washington DC doesn't use two of the same letters in its street grid.

  • Flight Status

    July 21 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

Like a good international traveler, I planned on getting to the airport 3 hours before my flight. Originally, the flight was at 5:35, but the flight got changed to a 6:45 flight. When I went to check-in, they asked if I saw the delay..... The flight is delayed until 9:10. They said I *should* still make my connecting flight. Good thing I gave myself a 4 hour layover! The positive, they gave me a whole $10 voucher that can only be used in specific places in the airport..... gee, thanks!Read more

  • TSA PreCheck

    July 21 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

I love TSA PreCheck! There were 2 people in front of me. The entire process was 5-10 min from when i arrived at the "line" to when I got my bag back from the scan. Love it!

  • Grrr.....

    July 21 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 79 °F

So, i was looking at my tickets, and when I checked in. They changed my 2nd flight to a flight that was going to take off 6 hours BEFORE we arrive in Frankfurt..... because i got rebooked, the seat that i had on my original flight was taken. The next flight had stand-by spots open. So now I'm flying at 2:30pm on Concord Airlines. Hopefully everything works out ok!Read more

  • Carry-on

    July 21 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 79 °F

So, Discover Airlines makes you weigh your carry-on if you want to bring it on as a carry-on. Not sure what happens if it's over the weight limit. I guess they'll make you check it. But will they charge you? That's what i want to know.Read more

  • Closer

    July 22 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

I had to check in again to get my new ticket. Technically, i could have used a machine or my phone app, but because Lufthansa sent my bag, I wanted to make sure Condor knew it was getting on this flight. Everything was set up correctly though!
Just made it through security. Now I wait for the flight to Berlin!

  • Latin America Outside Event

    July 22 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

Right by the World Clock, they had a band and all kinds of food/drink trucks. I got a quessadilla and some churros. Not German at all. But it's still fun to be at the celebration!

  • Breakfast

    July 23 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 61 °F

Nice breakfast spread at this hotel. One odd thing was that they had some desserts out (cookies and something similar to an Entenmanns doughnut but in a cake form). One cool thing is that they have, what I call the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer Drink". In one of the episodes, she is sick and asks her mom to give her a glass of juice that is 2 parts orange and 1 part grapefruit. It's actually pretty good!Read more

  • Pfand

    July 23 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 63 °F

Germans LOVE to recycle. Heres an example of how they force you to do it too. This water cost €0.29 (sooo cheap). BUT they charge and extra €0.25 as a bottle deposit. But, if you bring the bottle back and feed it to the machine, you get your €0.25 back. If you don't, you don't get the money back, and whoever ends up with the bottle (the hotel or somebody digging through the trash) gets the money.
Yes, i also bought 2 Coke Zeros. They're cheap, so might as well!

  • Walkative

    July 23 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 63 °F

If you ever get a chance to travel abroad, check to see if Walkative (formerly FreeWalkingTours.com) is in your city. These tours are between 1 and 3 hours. They dont change you a fee for the tour (you do need to do the free registration prior to the tour because they need at least 5 people). The only cost is the tip that you choose to give your tour guide. The website says people tip between €10 and €50 depending on the quality and length of the tour. I typically either do €10 or € 20. They are typically in English although there are some time slots with other languages (usually Spanish or the local language). It's a great way to see the city on foot!Read more

  • Book burning

    July 23 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 64 °F

This was one of the places that had a massive book burning. In total, there were over 20,000 books burned. It is in a square that also has a university building.
They put a little memorial there, which is in the ground. You look through the window and you see empty book shelves.Read more
