  • Atomium - Tour

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 77 °F

Once you enter, you go through a series of stairs and escalators that take you to the different spheres. You get to learn about the structure and the science/engineering it represents. Some rooms were dark except for special lights that would dance/flash to represent things.Read more

  • Atomium - Top

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 77 °F

The view from the top sphere was beautiful! Next to the Atomium is a small park called mini-Europe. I had wanted to go there, but after seeing it from up high, I decided against it. It was really hot so I stopped up to the restaurant (the highest you could go) for a drink. This bottle looked funny, and I had seen the name on multiple menus, so I figured I'd give it a try. It wasn't great, but it was ok.Read more

  • Belgium Beer World Experience

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 77 °F

I had seen signs for the Belgium Beer World Experience, but I wasn't sure I'd do it. I looked into it a little more, and it seemed interesting, so I signed up! The museum part takes you through the history of beer, what ingredients can/must be used, and what types of beer there are. They had a giant head and some computer screens to test how much you remembered! Towards the end, they had you scan your ticket and answer 5 question (very random questions). The computer then gave you 10 suggestions for beers that they have, and that they think I'll enjoy. They even give you a coaster and print the list on the back of it!Read more

  • Rooftop

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 77 °F

After the tour, we can go up to the rooftop bar. If you scan your ticket, the first beer is free. They recommend that it be from the list of beers you printed out, but it doesn't have to be. What a great view of the city!Read more

  • Waffles

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 75 °F

It was time to get some Belgian Waffles. The store had a very plain name, and I could see where they were making the waffles, so I decided to go there. I got the Liège (Belgian style - round) and got strawberries, bananas, Nutella, and whipped cream on it. SO good! I'm going to try and come back tomorrow!Read more

  • Chocolate

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 75 °F

What trip to Belgium would be complete without getting chocolate. My goal was to look for a store that:
    1. I had never heard of
    2. Only sold their own brand
    3. Had a modest selection
    4. They were founded before I was born.
Leonidas was the winner! They chose their name after the Greek King (and Warrior) who died while leading 300 Spartans to battle.
I got some small pieces and a few bars. Depending on how much I like it, I may be back for more tomorrow!

  • Le Roy d'Espagne

    July 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 75 °F

This is a brasserie-restaurant in the main square of Brussels. The name caught my attention, and I thought their uniforms were cool, so I decided to stop for a drink. Most of the drinks are from the Leffe brewery, so I got a sampler. I liked (what I thought was) the ruby. Turns out it was a different Leffe that was also red in color (they were out of ruby, so they substituted). I was slightly confused by the glass it came in. I've never been given a glass that isn't flat on the bottom....lolRead more

  • Into The Wild

    July 27, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

We saw a temporary art exhibition by an artist named Gaspard Giersé. I thought they looked really cool! I wish it hadn't been so rushed there.

  • Street art

    July 27, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

We saw a bunch of street art that looked really cool. They all seemed to be on the sides of buildings where there was just a slight difference in depth, so one stuck out just a little more. That extra space is where the street art almost always was.Read more

  • Manneken Pis

    July 27, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

This is the other well-known symbol of Brussels. The story goes that the boy saved the city from a huge fire by peeing on the flames. Well then.....lol. As a fountain, it was much needed because it brought water down to that part of the city.Read more

  • Clothing

    July 27, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

How nice would they be if they made the "Manneken Pis" stay naked the whole time. At noon, every day, he is given an outfit. Organizations and governments can give outfits if they are willing to pick a day to come for the dressing "ceremony". The outfit is different every day, but that is ok because there are over 1,000 outfits that he has!Read more
