  • Oh dear

    May 5, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

After traveling all day, and only eating breakfast at around 7 AM, The hotel restaurant was closed due to things just reopening after the pandemic, and there were no snacks available. 🤬

I found myself wandering through random parking lots in Natick, a suburb of Boston, looking for an open restaurant. I felt like I was in one of those Dateline shows and that they were going to find me in a ditch somewhere with only one shoe and an unidentifiable head wound.Read more

  • Salem witch house

    May 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 50 °F

The Jonathan Corwin House, known locally as The Witch House. Thought to be built sometime between 1620 and 1642, it was the home of Judge Jonathan Corwin (1640–1718), and is the only structure still standing in Salem with direct ties to the Salem witch trials of 1692.

Corwin was called upon to investigate the claims of diabolical activity when a surge of witchcraft accusations arose in Salem Village (now Danvers) and neighboring communities. He took the place of Judge Nathaniel Saltonstall, who resigned after the execution of Bridget Bishop. Corwin served on the Court of Oyer and Terminer, which ultimately sent 19 people to the gallows.

  • The North End

    May 8, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

Traveling on Mother's Day, I decided to visit Boston's North End, the oldest residential community in Boston. I love pasta, and what better place to find it.

  • Tiki Rock

    May 8, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

I try to hit up local Tiki bars whenever I can. Tiki Rock looked promising. I guess I'm spoiled by Adrift in Denver (the best Tiki bar, IMHO), and I have a very high bar. This place was cool, but I would call it more Tiki-inspired. The lighting is more urban neon vibe, and the current R&B music blasting out does not create a tropical, Polynesian atmosphere. The drinks were good, and while my clam chowder had good flavor, it was a) not the best I had on my trip, and b) very gritty. someone was not going a great job of cleaning the clams.Read more

  • A nightcap

    May 8, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 46 °F

I needed something a little more traditional to call it a day, so I headed over to The Black Rose (Roisin Dubh), for some Irish craic, a Guinness, and a Jameson.

  • Beacon Hill

    May 9, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 55 °F

Starting off on my full day, Freedom Trail journey. My first stop was supposed to be Boston Common, but apparently my Uber driver didn't want to get that close, so he dropped me off in an undetermined location, that I determined to be Beacon Hill.Read more
