    Staniel Cay to Great Exuma!

December 6, 2023 on the Bahamas

Oh my goodness, I can not believe we made it! We really and truly have made it to the most Southern (ok, we MAY go to Long Island) part of the Bahamas we are heading. And we are set on a dock for a few months while our family and friends come and visit. It is a pleasant little marina with not much around it in the way of provisioning, but plenty around it in the way of beautiful beaches, resorts and little islands to visit. We are set to explore the Exumas from here for an extended amount of time. We had to race to get here before 30mph winds kick up this afternoon and evening. That will be followed by 6 to 8 ft waves for a few days. So we got up at 6am this morning and raced with the wind at our back to what we hope is a safe and secure home base.

Today's bad weather gave us the permission to sit around the boat and settle in to our new home. We will begin exploring over the coming days. We are really excited to have Ella and Davis visiting before Christmas and Pat and Kevin visiting Christmas! Aimee will hopefully be making the trip in January. Invites are out to anyone and everyone! If you think you want to visit the Exumas and have a boat at your disposal, now is the time!

What Could Go Right? Dave repaired the dock we are on - hey it's the Bahamas - and our electrical issues have been mostly resolved. It was fun boating into the sunrise this morning, that isn't something we have done before. And we seem to have all the right equipment to be set to ride out storms as they blow through during these windy months.

What Could Go Wrong? Communications are a bit on the difficult side. We are having some trouble keeping up with work. Honestly, that isn't a huge "wrong", but it does put a little stress on everyone who is helping us out. We will continue to do the best we can and be grateful for the help we have!
