Today we said goodbye to lovely PEI and pointed the Highlander in the direction of Nova Scotia. Our initial reaction on entering NS was "Not more forests!", thinking of our long, forest-rich drive through NB. But as we veered off the TransCanada Highway towards Cape Breton Island, the scenery became more dramatic.
We spent the night in a small village called Iona, located on Bras D'Or Lake, Canada's largest in-land sea with a blend of both sea and lake water. Our guest house was situated on a hill overlooking the lake/sea. When we arrived there was a ceilidh happening in the adjacent bar.
