    23–27 Eki 2024, Japonya ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Finally catching up to the trip here... After a 28 hour journey from Altamont, we landed at haneda and got on the bus to a nice hotel (that we deserved) at Shin-yokohama station. To start, we drove from home to Newark, leaving around midnight early Tuesday a.m. We had a 6A.M. flight to Minneapolis where we would connect to our Tokyo bound plane. The flight out of MSP was delayed about 4 hours, so that meant a much later arrival in Japan on Wednesday evening. We reached the hotel around 8:30p.m. Other than the delay, each part of the trip went smoothly. Delta apologized at MSP with snacks and meal vouchers, which didn't work for us, but not a big deal. We also got an upgrade to comfort+, which was nice.
Ryan surprised us when he popped in to let us know the latest re arlene's plans, so we had a nice visit with him. We both got a bit of sleep of very low quality on the plane, and now (Saturday) our internal clocks remain screwed up even though we were able to sleep comfortably at the hotel. We had a reservation on the shinkansen for noonish, so after breakfast, we took a walk. It was surprisingly humid and warm, but not hot.
We had scouted out ekiben, so after checking out, we stopped at the kiyoken kiosk for their human bento to eat on the train. From shin-osaka we navigated to teradacho station, which is about a block away from the airbnb. It's a fairly spacious 2LDK apartment in a normal neighborhood. The one "negative" is the toilet is not the fancy japanese heated butt washer type.
