Ancient Amman. Jerash was to the north but Amman was itself a city of the Decapolis (a trading partnership, of sorts) . Continuously inhabited since 1800 BC (the Bronze Age), and referred to in the Old Testament as Rabbath. Rebuilt about 250 BC by Ptolomy ruler Philadelphus. Redesigned during Herod's Roman rule around 30 BC. This is the highest hill in Amman. Interesting museum at the top too.Read more
