    Cowra - Japanese Garden

    September 28, 2019 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 8 °C

Cowra is a lovely outback NSW town. Its famous for the Japanese Prisoner of War camp where prisoners were held during WW2. There was an uprising and breakout from the camp and prisoners escaped. Over 1000 escaped, 234 Japanese were shot during the breakout. 4 Australian soldiers were killed.
There is a Japanese War cemetery and memorial, as well as a fabulous Japanese Garden.
We were lucky enough to be there on the day of the Cherry Blossom Festival and saw cherry trees in blossom!
